New Delhi: The air strikes in Libya have split world opinion with India, China and Russia expressing regret over the aggression and the Arab League saying it will reconsider its agreement to join. Is then the allied aggression justified or is it solely aimed at getting rid of Gaddafi once and for all?As the bombs and rockets fall over Libya, the voices against the US led Operation Odyssey Dawn are growing louder.German Foreign Minister, Guido Westerwelle Said "We still are sceptical of the military intervention and this means that Germany supports any initiative to widen the sanctions. We think it is important that this dictator Gaddafi steps down."

More worrying for the Western-led operation are the contradictory noises from the Arab world, the Arab League backed the No Fly Zone but now appears to be in reverse gear.
Amr Moussa Arab League Secretary General said "We respect the Security Council resolution and we have no conflict with the resolution, especially as it confirms that there is no invasion or occupation of Libyan territory, it only deals with threats against citizens in Benghazi and elsewhere in Libya."
Arab reservations probably stem from suspicions that the West is going to do another Iraq on them, it could also reflect the nervousness of the entrenched Arab elites that Libya could trigger an uprising by their repressed peoples, an uprising that will engulf them all.
